One Day Iquitos City Tour
We start our city tours at 8.am and start from Plaza de Armas .
The Plaza de Armas was remodeled in 1998 and is a lively place in which to sit and enjoy the morning newspaper or stroll in the cool of the evening. It boasts a spectacular variable fountain which plays on occasion on most sunday night and fiestas, the local Armed forces every Sunday morning at 10.am there is a grand military and civic parade in the plaza de Armas which the national and departmental flags are raised formally followed by a march.
In the central of the plaza de Armas we can see a beautiful obelisk,it was inaugarated on 31 December 1908 and commemorates the 173 loretanos who lost their lives in la Guerra del pasifico.
keep our city tour we can visit the catholic cathedral on the south west side of the square, la Iglesia Matriz, with its handsome clock and quality euphonious bells, date from 1911, replacing a chapel that new cathedral was finally blessed and inaugurated on 16 March 1919, although the graceful tower was not completed until 1924, a further 5 years later, the clock being installed in 1925.

CASA DE FIERRO,or strictly speaking half of it, the pioneering concept to this design by Gustavo Eiffel was intended to serve as a pre-fabricated portable home for officials working overeas in the french and British colonies in the Africa, and the Iron House was originally unveiled at the Paris exhibition of 1878, with panels supposedly having being made in England at the sheffield foundries, the design subsequently displayed at the international exhibitions in Brussel, where it was bought by French industrial caucheros, who was visiting Europe at the time.
We can visit all those places around the city and each one of them with their perspective information necessary, our guides has a lot of knowledge about the legendary things built during the rubber boom.

Finally visiting one of the bigger market in Iquitos city called Belen.
The market and port of Belen an important supply center where principal food products are sold, it is located on the borders of the area because it is flooded during the high water season and people access up and down the streets by canoe.
Houses are made of rustic material such as topa and balsa wood.
Inside of the market you will see a beautiful small square of Belen, a beautiful Iron bandstand of eight columns decorated with facias of an octagonal base. The platform is surrounded by balustrades of forged Iron and its columns support arches on the top of which there is dome decorated with forged Iron elements.
Crowning the dome is a weather vane with the cardinal points.
Belen is a vast congested labyrinth of trader and buyer extending practically the length and breadth of Belen town…….
